Just a little about me:
I grew up in NY with dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, - you name it, if we could fit it in the house we tried (not always successful). Anyway, I didn’t realize my true love for dogs until my daughter got a rescue. When she was training “Stewart” in obedience, it was too hard for me to sit on the sidelines & watch, so I also, rescued my own very first dog, Pebbles.
This is when I learned dogs were my passion and went on to do Obedience, Rally, Flyball, BarnHunt, Nosework with Pebbles, and my all time favorite, Agility.
I became an agility instructor when Pebbles and I (yes, this is a team sport😊) achieved our Excellent title in both Standard and Jumpers with AKC.
Since Pebbles, I have acquired a few more dogs, Schotzie, who excelled in both Agility & Flyball and still competes in agility, Happy- who I tried sports with, but health issues made the decisions for me, and the youngest, Runr who is now 3 and I’m working with him.
I believe every dog has a sport they can excel in, and it’s a journey like no other finding what that sport is. Nothing beats just you and your teammate out there on an agility field just having fun.
A LOT of my instruction comes from experience, taking lessons from others, watching the interaction between handler and dog - learning what works and what doesn’t work. I LOVE it when you can actually see the light bulb go off in the dog’s mind when they actually “get it”.
